"Teaching Spanish is not enough, our students need to feel they belong to it"

Our Profile

ILBA PREGO- Director

For high school Spanish students nothing can compare to living language and culture at the community level. Connecting to youth, sharing our way of life and recognizing the challenges we face is a powerful "life changing" Spanish experience. If you believe as we do that Latin America and Spanish will play an extremely important role in your child's future; then we invite you to take a closer look at our 2008 summer program. The Nicaragua Summer Exchange operates as a fully supervised high school exchange program that provides aspiring young Spanish speakers with a truly authentic immersion experience. This is how immersion programs "used to be", strongly integrated into schools, family and youth programs. Our high, student to staff ratio (2:1) means individual support and interaction for visiting students. Because we run only one high school program, parents know that the program director is involved in all day to day student activities. We take great pride in being Latin America's most community oriented high school exchange program. To learn more about our summer program we strongly encourage prospective students and parents to use our past participants, parents and teacher contacts. We always welcome your questions, and please take the opportunity to request our free program DVD.

The Nicaragua High School Summer Exchange, is a chartered member of the Nicaragua Ministry of Education and since1998, a member of the Wisconsin Public Schools International Programs,  today through the success of our dynamic "Spanish Through Leadership" philosophy, we enroll students from Boston to San Francisco, from Toronto to Tallahassee! Whether it be sports, the arts, academics, or music and dance, we provide rewarding opportunities for high school Spanish students to experience the warm embrace of Central America's most historic colonial community Granada, Nicaragua.

The program structure provides a perfect balance between cultural immersion, youth dynamics and adventure activities.
In our open-air markets, inside our adobe colonial homes, and in the hearts of local children we invite you to make your connection to the community of Central America.
